General informations for your stag party
All the hotels we book are located within walking distance from the city centre, nearby Wenceslas Square. This square (it is rather a boulevard) is the comercial centre with several banks, hotels, restaurants, but it is also night entertaiment centre with many bars, night clubs and casinos. 5 min. walk from Wenceslas Square there is the most beautiful square in Prague – Old Town Square (Staromestske namesti). It has some great churches and Old Town Hall with Astronomical Clock which beats every full hour. Every visitor to Prague should see the square as well as the Charles Bridge, which is another 5 min. walk through the streets of Old Town towards the Vltava river. Above the river there is quite impresive monument – Prague Castle, the largest castle area in the world. It has over 1 100 years of history, has always been the seat of the Czech rulers, now the seat of our presidents.

Practical information
Prague is very walkable city, but you might need to use taxi service. Here we would recommend instead of taking the taxi from the street, which can overcharge (and often does mainly at night unfortunately) to call very trustfull taxi service - AAA. They speak English as well and will send you taxi in 5 min. Their phone number is +420 14014. In case you want to use the street taxi, you should ask the price in advance. The price within the centre should never be higher then 300 Czk (aprox. 10 EUR) per car.

It is always better to change money in bank, than in the exchange poins. You should never change money with someone on the street! In the crowded tourist areas there are pickpockets! On the other hand, Prague is quite safe city at night, with almost no violent crime.
The price of food and mainly beer in the restaurants is very reasonable (except the restaurants right at the Old Town Square and some striptese clubs at the Wenceslas square)

General Informations about Prague
Prague is one of Europ’s most visited cities. With its 1 000 years of history, Gothic cathedrals, fairytale castle, old stone bridge accross meandring river it belongs among the most beautiful cities in the world. Number of elegant caffee houses, good traditional restaurants, wellknown ancient breweries add to friendly atmosphere. The historical centre of Prague consists of 5 towns:
Prague Castle and Castle Town
Prague Castle is the most popular sight among tourists in Prague and it is often visited by stag parties. It is the largest ancient castle in the world, it’s area is 7.28 hectares. It was founded by princ Borivoj in 883 as a wooden fortres, but was trnasformed in the course of centuries into impresive litte town. Major reconstruction was undertaken by Maria Theresa in 18th century and since then the Castle keeps its classicist face.
The most important monument in the Castle area is St. Vitus Cathedral, one of the most beautiful Ghotic cathedrals in Europe. It was founded in 1344 by Charles IV, but was not finished until 1926. It is the burial place of the Czech rulers and depository of Crown Jewellers.
Another interesting monument in Prague Castle is Old Royal Palace, St. George Basilic and Golden Lane

Prague Lesser Town
This lovely little town was founded in 1257 on the slopes below the Prague Castle. As it was not efected by any recent construction it managed to preserve its Baroque look. There is number of peaceful little squares, streets, historical gardens and outdoor restaurants which still wait to be discovered by tourists and stag groups.
The Major monument of Lesser Town is the Church of St. Nicolas, the most wounderful example of Baroque architecture in Prague.

Prague Old Town
The history of this town goes down to 10th century. It has many medieval little winding streets, number of ghotic and Baroque churches, but the main attraction in Old Town is the Old Town Square with its Old Town Hall and the Astronomical clock. The square and its neighbourhood is often filled with torists. On weekend you also meet stag groups sitting in outdoor restaurants, tasting beer or admiring the beauty around.

Prague Jewish Quarter
Named ofter the emperor Josef II, whose reformes in 1781 helped to ease living conditions for the Jews. This part of Prague is often visit by people who want to learn about Jewish history and culture. It has high number of precious monuments as Hitler did’t touch it in the world war II. His intention was to open here an exotic museum of an extinct race. Thanks to this idea Prague has the oldes preserved Jewish cemetary and the oldest working synagogue in Evrope.
The best known personalities who lived in Prague Jewish Quarter is the famos writer Franz Kafka (1883 – 1924) and the creator of mystical humunculus Golem Rabi Löw ( +1609).

Prague New Town
The carefully planed New Town was founded by Charles IV in 1348. It was mainly inhabited by tradesmen and craftsmen. There is the main square of Prague, Wenceslas Square, which is the comercial but also night entertainmet centre. It is the most popular part of Prague among the stag parties. In New Town there are some very pleasant shoping boulevards, many good restaurants and couple of historical breweries making famos Czech beer.

Something about Czech Republic
The Czech Republic is situated in the centre of Europe and sometimes it is called the heart of Europe. It has a population of 10,3 million inhabitants and covers an area of about 80,000 sq. km.
The Czech borders are the oldest ones in the Europe. We border with Germany on the west with a nature border made by the Ore Mountains, the Czech Forest and Sumava range. The border with Poland is made by the Jizerske Mountains, the Giant Mountains the Eagle Mountains and the Jesenik Mountain range. The border with Austria is made by the Dyje river and the border with Slovakia is made by the Morava river and White Karpat hills.
The Czech Republic consists of three lands: Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia. A natural border between Moravia and Bohemia is made by the Bohemian-Moravian Highland. The biggest mountain in the Czech Republic is Snezka (1602m) in the Giant Mountains and the longest river is the Vltava.
There are many spots of natural beauty in the Czech Republic. South Bohemia is particularly rich in ponds. The most beautiful natural places are the Czech Paradise, “rock town” in Prachov rocks, the Decin walls, Czech Switzerland, the Boubin virgin forests, Macocha abyss and so on. We have also some protected areas, some of them are really very nice (for example one of the protected areas is the region near river Dyje) and National parks.

History of the Republic
At the beginning of the 20th century Bohemia was a part of Austrian Empire. After World War I in 1918 Czechoslovakia declared its independence. The new republic had three parts: Bohemia, Moravia and Slovakia. The popular Tomas Garigue Masaryk became the first president. In October 1938 the Nazis occupied the Sudetenland, with the acquiescence of Britain and France, after the infamous Munich Agreement. In March 1939 Germany occupied Bohemia and Moravia. Slovakia proclaimed independence as a Nazi puppet state. After World War II in 1945 Czechoslovakia was reestablished as an independent state. In the 1946 elections, the Communists became the largest party with 36% of the popular vote and formed coalition government. In 1948 the Communist staged coup d'etat and Czechoslovakia became a communist country. In the 1960s Czechoslovakia enjoyed a gradual liberalization under the reformist general secretary of the Czechoslovak Communist Party, Alexander Dubcek. But this short period was crushed by a Soviet invasion in August 1968. In 1969 the reformist Dubcek was replaced by the orthodox Gustav Husak and Czechoslovakia stayed a communist country under the Soviet influence. The communist government resignated in November 1989 after a week of demonstrations known as the Velvet Revolution. The popular Vaclav Havel was elected president of the republic. At the end of 1992 Czechoslovakia split into Czech Republic (Bohemia and Moravia) and Slovak Republic (Slovakia). This peaceful splitting is called the Velvet Divorce. Twelve years later, on 1st. May 2004 Czech Republic became a part of the European Union. On 1st. January 2008 Czech republic became a part of Schengen agreement and removes internal borders with Schengen area countries. This allows travel to and from these countries without checks, both at land borders and airports.

Czech political system
The head of the Czech Republic is the President (presently Prof. Václav Klaus). He is elected for five years.
Parliament and the government have the main power. The government is composed of the prime minister, the vice-premier and the ministers.
The judicial power is divided into a system of courts. There is house of common and the Senat, which are at the highest level and they go down to region and district courts.
Our flag consists of three colours, red, blue and white. The red is at the bottom, the white is at the top and the blue makes a triangle at the left side.

Something from Czech history
Our territory has been inhabited by Slavonic tribes since 5th century. The first Slavonic state was Samo's empire which was found here in 623. In 1306, the Czech throne went by way of dynastic wedding to the Luxembourg, and the Czech Kingdom became also the center of the Holy Roman Empire mainly during the reign of Charles IV and his son Wenceslas IV. Prague grew into one of the largest European metropolises of that era and was center of education, architecture and arts. In 1348 Charles University was founded. It´s the oldest one in Europe to north from Alps.
The 20th century brought establishing of Czech state and two horrible world wars. After the Second World War Czech republic was under soviet influence. Turn came in 1989, after velvet revolution. In 1993 Czechoslovakia was divided into two states - Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Interesting places in Czech Republic
There are also many places associated with our history. Among the most beautiful historic towns belong Prague, Kutna Hora, Cesky Krumlov, Telc, Karlovi Vary. Also many castles, ruins and chateaux can be found in our republic. To the most interesting ones belong Karlstejn, Krivoklat, Bezdez, Hluboka, Zvikov, Konopiste and of course the Prague castle.
The most popular places in CR for tourists are cities (Prague, Karlovy Vary, Cesky Krumlov), castles (Karlstejn, Hluboka, Konopiste) and especially in winter Krkonose mountains.
Towns - what makes our cities so popular and famous is their rich history and big number of
